A typical provably fair system commits to a hidden server seed hash before play, combines it with player-controlled input and a nonce, then reveals enough data to reproduce the result.
Commitment before the wager
The casino publishes a cryptographic hash of a server seed before eligible rounds. The hash acts as a commitment without revealing the seed that would expose future results.
A client seed provides player input, while a nonce usually changes for each bet. Exact formulas differ by game and must be read from its documentation.
Verification after seed rotation
Once the server seed is revealed, a verifier can hash it and compare the result with the earlier commitment. The documented algorithm can then reproduce the game output from the seed inputs and nonce.
A result that does not reproduce is material evidence. A losing result that verifies correctly is not evidence that the game was manipulated.
What provably fair does not prove
The calculation does not establish casino solvency, licensing quality, KYC fairness, withdrawal performance or whether every displayed product uses the same system.
